Flights depart from most major European cities, most frequently from Lisbon, and from Dakar in Senegal. From the UK, it takes just over five hours to reach Cape Verde and direct flights are available from Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester and Birmingham from as little as £300 (at time of writing). The main international airport is on the island of Sal with a second airport at Praia on Santiago Island that is starting to receive more international flights.
Internal flights are available between the main islands and a regular ferry service runs between various destinations in the archipelago. Recent investment in road infrastructure has made travel on the main islands far easier and taxis are generally easy to find and very reasonably priced.
